General information
There are 22 types of curriculum development as identified by APPC. Each type has different requirements: CSU, WSCUC and CI requirements vary. The main entities involved in approval processes are the faculty, Chair, Dean(s), LCC, GE committee, APPC, Senate, Provost, President, CO and WSCUC. The Academic Program Office is responsible to track the processes through Curriculog/Curriculum and for compliance.
The approval entities involved in each proposal review are posted here (, 131 KB), as recommended and approved by APPC in Spring 2024.
Fundamental requirements in setting steps and timelines
The steps and timelines for each process are defined to follow internal and external requirements and policies, and ultimately defined by the deadlines for University Catalog publication, Scheduling, Advising, Recruitment and Admissions, Registrar and related system processes, in order to serve the students appropriately and in a timely manner. From 2024-25, all these steps are included in the timelines shown to all stakeholders.
CI timelines for Fall '26 and '27 implementation
Per CSU requirements, BA, BS and Graduate program proposals must be submitted to the Chancellor's office through the Academic Master Plan (AMP) process and receive BOT approval, before curriculum development takes place. To propose new programs (short form) please refer to the AMP page. The process is exemplified here (, 129KB).
The timelines presented show the deadlines for each level to make the projected implementation possible to support student systems. In most cases, subsequent levels cannot start work before the previous entity/individuals submits their level. Please do not wait until last minute to submit or approve. Doing so may hinder the whole process and not meet the final deadline for implementation. Everybody should take this into account, and submit or approve proposals before the deadline. Any questions should be directed to the Academic Programs Office or AVP Neto.
Timelines for 2025-26 and 2026-27 will be soon published, upon review by APPC.
Please check updated timelines by May 15th.
