WHERE: Soccer fields located on the southwestern area of the CSUCI campus near the Potrero Road entrance.
WHAT: Major League Soccer team D.C. United will continue its pre-season training using the soccer fields at 91³Ô¹Ï. D.C. United is preparing for an exhibition match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday, Feb. 24 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This is the first time the CSUCI campus facilities have been used by a professional sports team. D.C. United is based in Washington, D.C. and uses facilities in warmer climates to prepare for its regular season, which begins in March and runs through late October. The team is a charter member of the MLS and played its inaugural season in 1996.
Members of the media are welcome to attend the practices on Saturday, Feb. 16. Those taking film or pictures are asked to respect the perimeter of the playing field, and are asked to film or take pictures from the south and east side of the field.
