Camarillo, Calif., Oct. 20, 2008—91Թ will host a special presentation by world-renowned economist and CSUCI Professor Sung Won Sohn on Monday, Nov. 10. The event will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., and introduction and welcome from University President Richard R. Rush, and Sohn’s presentation, “What Went Wrong? America’s Financial Crisis” will begin at 6 p.m. A question and answer session will follow.
The event will be held on the CSUCI campus in Malibu Hall 100. Attendance is complimentary but an RSVP is required. This event is presented by the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics and 91Թ.
During the presentation Sohn will discuss the recent dramatic events in the United States and world financial markets. He will present an analysis of the factors that caused the current crisis, and offer his insights on how to address the current issues and how to prevent them from happening in the future.
“Dr. Sohn’s economic expertise has been widely quoted and broadcasted during the past months. We are pleased to offer the community a first-hand opportunity to hear Dr. Sohn’s analysis of the current economic situation and to ask questions about the economic issues we are experiencing locally and worldwide,” said President Rush.
Sohn is a Professor at the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CSU Channel Islands. He is regularly quoted by national and global media outlets. Prior to arriving at the University, Sohn was the Chief Executive Officer of Hanmi Financial Corporation, a commercial bank with $4 billion in assets. Before joining Hanmi in 2005, Sohn was an Executive Vice President and Chief Economic Officer of Wells Fargo Banks for more than 30 years. He served on the President’s Council of Economic Advisors at The White House during the Ford-Nixon Administration.
Limited parking is available on campus and is complimentary. Follow signs to designated event parking areas. Free parking is available at the Camarillo Metrolink Station /Lewis Road parking lot in Camarillo with complimentary shuttle service to and from the campus. Riders should board the CSUCI VISTA Bus.
