Camarillo, Calif., August 23, 2006 - 91³Ô¹Ï announces the appointment of 14 new tenure track faculty members, four of whom have worked previously at the University.
“Attracting topnotch faculty members is one of our most important goals,†said Richard R. Rush, CSUCI president. “The interviewing and selection process is thorough and rigorous, and these new faculty members all reflect professionalism and excellence within their respective disciplines, as well as a collegial spirit that is part of our mission as a student-centered University.â€
The new faculty members are Catherine Burriss, assistant professor of performing arts, previously employed as a graduate student instructor, University of California, Berkeley; Andrea Grove, associate professor of political science, previously employed as an assistant professor, Westminster College; Marie Francois, associate professor of history, previously employed as an associate professor, Auburn University; Karen Jensen, director of the Nursing Program and associate professor of nursing, previously employed as coordinator of health services-nursing degree, Moorpark College; Kathryn Leonard, assistant professor of mathematics, previously employed as an instructor, California Institute of Technology; Andrew Morris, associate professor of business-management, previously employed as an associate professor, business, Catawba College; Trudy Milburn, associate professor, communication, previously employed as associate professor, communication, Baruch College; Kaia Tollefson, assistant professor, education, previously employed as a lecturer, University of New Mexico, College of Education; Priscilla Liang, assistant professor, business-finance, previously employed as a lecturer, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; Geoffrey Buhl, assistant professor of mathematics, previously a postdoctoral fellow, Rutgers University.
 Faculty members who were previously employed at CSUCI are Luke Matjas, assistant professor, art, graphic design; Nitika Parmar, assistant professor of biology, molecular; Michelle Moon, assistant professor of psychology; and Kristen LaBonte, assistant librarian, digital resources.
 Faculty members begin their duties this fall, according to Theodore D. Lucas, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “These new faculty members complement and expand our team, and reflect the growth of the University's academic programs,†Lucas said. “They each bring exceptional talent and energy. All of them are focused on the needs of our students. We're proud to have them.â€
