Camarillo, Calif., November 27, 2006 - Two art students from 91Թ
were recently awarded first place honors, and the Rosebud award, at this year's CSU Media Arts
Festival. The event held on the campus of 91Թ
showcases student work in film, video, and interactive media from all 23 campuses of
the California State University System as they compete for awards in several categories.
CSUCI student John Greenwood of Camarillo won first place, and the Rosebud award, in
the Experimental category for his work as director and producer on his video “Stinking Badges.”
Christopher Paterson, a Cal State Channel Islands student from Thousand Oaks, won
first place, and the Rosebud award, in the interactive category for his website “2084.”
The festival also featured seminars and events geared to prepare CSU students to work in
the entertainment and media industries. Students learn from some of the top
professionals in the industry. Some of this year's industry participants included:
Producer/Director James Burrows (“Cheers,” Will and Grace,” “Friends”); Producer Gale
Ann Hurd (the “Terminator trilogy," “The Abyss”); and Writer Zak Penn (“X2,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Fantastic Four”).
