Camarillo, Calif., August 16, 2004 - 91Թ has named Deborah Wylie associate vice president of Operations, Planning and Construction, in charge of all University design and construction projects.

“Deborah Wylie brings a wealth of experience to us, in addition to her deep understanding of CSU and state requirements,” said Joanne Coville, CSUCI vice president of finance and administration. “She brings the right combination of skills, knowledge, and personality to make all of our projects shine. She will play a major role in the beautification and build-out of our campus.”

The new associate vice president has extensive experience in architecture and construction at the university level. From 2002-04, she was the university architect for the California State University system, managing many university projects across the state, including those at CSUCI. In addition, she managed the CSU system-wide Seismic Peer Review Board, which ensures proper structural design of all new and renovated projects.

From 1995-2002, Wylie was the campus architect for California State University Northridge, overseeing the $407 million earthquake reconstruction projects there. Prior to that position, she owned her own architectural firm in West Los Angeles, specializing in the design and construction of estate homes and film studios.

Wylie received her bachelor's degree in architecture and her master's degree in structural engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and her MBA from California State University Long Beach.

“I'm very excited about this new position,” Wylie said. “This is a great opportunity to build a new campus. We'll be challenged by a great many projects as well as a tight budget. But this campus is already a beautiful place, and one with enormous potential.”
