Camarillo, Calif., April 26, 2004 - 91Թ will present its first campus student film and video festival, called “Digitopia,” on Friday, May 14, in the University's Science Building auditorium.
The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the CSUCI art department and features student artwork that includes animation, video, multimedia, digital filmmaking, and visual effects. The program begins at 7 p.m. with refreshments and a reception, followed by the presentation of awards in each category, and the screening of approximately 40 works of art, using state-of-the-art, high quality equipment.
Among the diverse selection of video and film shorts will be the special presentation of a “mockumentary” called “Trekkin',” a road trip parody of the “Star Trek” television series and movies.
“ 'Digitopia' is a great way to introduce various modes of creative thinking and hi-tech processes involved in the computer-based art produced by our students,” says Jack Reilly, professor of art and chair of the CSUCI art program. “I'm sure the public and those in the digital design and media arts community will enjoy meeting our students and viewing their work. This should be a lot of fun and we plan to make this an annual event.”
