Camarillo, Calif., April 26, 2007 - 91³Ô¹Ï students will hold CI's Hope for the Hokies, a ceremony of remembrance for the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting incident that occurred on April 16. The ceremony will begin at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 in the South Quad on the campus of CSUCI.
Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to attend this event. Following a brief address from Dr. Wm. Gregory Sawyer, vice president for Student Affairs at CSUCI, all in attendance will be invited to gather in the formation of the letters “VT†for an aerial photo. Those who participate are asked to wear a red shirt or CSUCI apparel. The photo will be sent to Virginia Tech to show CSUCI's support of the victims of the tragedy.
Also on May 2, CSUCI students will begin the “Coins Because We Care Campaignâ€. Buckets will be placed throughout campus to collect donations for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund. Donations will be accepted to remember and honor the victims of this tragic event and will be used to cover expenses including: assistance to the victims and their families, grief counseling, memorials, communication expenses and comfort expenses.
