Jan. 30, 2025 – Your online activity generates a lot of data, including information
about your interests, online purchases, and personally identifiable information (name,
phone number, email address). Many services that collect this information sell it
for profit. While it’s not possible to completely lock down your data, you can take
steps to have more control over who it is shared with.
You should always practice good security habits:
- Determine if the information you’re sharing is worth the service
- Use strong privacy settings to minimize data collection
- Delete unuse apps; apps that are on your device may still be collecting information, even if you’re not actively using it
- Maintain a unique password for each of your accounts
- Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) whenever possible
- Update devices and software frequently
By taking these steps and practicing good digital safety habits, you can better protect your personal data.
