Machine Learning and YouJune 20, 2024 - Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become prevalent in our daily lives from chatbot Large Language Models (LLMs) to specialized analytic tools. Whether you are a business looking to solve complex problems or an individual simply asking a question, working with AI must be done responsibly. Consider the following:

  • Reliability: Always cite your sources. An LLM trained off the internet is bound to contain inaccurate information, getting things wrong from time to time.
  • Critical Information: Popular LLMs like OpenAI’s ChatGPT might make writing something easier but stop and consider where the text you type ends up. Be careful you aren’t sharing private information.
  • Ethics: The use of AI has the potential to speed up your work at a price. Be careful with what you are trying to create as it could end up being used maliciously.
  • Be Wary: Data is valuable and malicious entities want yours, so be extra vigilant protecting your privacy. Poorly written phishing emails are now history with LLM’s helping threat actors tailor them to their victims. Don’t let yourself be one.
